Yemen Fifth International Bid Round 2010
On 18 October 2010, the Yemen Ministry of Oil and Minerals announced the launch of the Fifth International Bid Round at the Third International Yemen Oil, Gas and Minerals conference. Oil companies are invited to bid for a total of 10 exploration blocks, with six of the blocks located onshore and the remaining four offshore. The blocks on offer are located in five sedimentary basins, Jiza-Qamar, Tihamah, Rub al Khali, Masila Sayun and Socotra. Further information about the blocks can be seen below:

In the four previous international bid rounds a total of 38 blocks have been offered, 19 of which have been awarded. The First and Second International Bid Round, in 2004 and 2005 respectively, were relatively successful, resulting in four blocks out of the six on offer being awarded in the first round and all seven blocks being awarded in the second round. The Third International Bid Round, in 2006, was less successful with only 57% of the blocks, eight out of the 14 blocks on offer, being awarded. The Fourth International Bid Round was the least successful with no blocks having been awarded. Further information on the historic bid rounds can also be found on the PEPA website.
