Three blocks on offer for exploration and production, December 2011

The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation offered three new blocks for exploration and production in December 2011, which contain prospective D1 and D2 reserves only.

The blocks are located 440 kilometres to the north-east of Naryan-Mar and are offered for an exploration and production period of 25 years. The nearest producing oilfields are located nearly 200 kilometres to the west.

The Yangareyskiy, Verkhneyangareyskiy and Sibriyaginskiy blocks contain almost 25 million tons of D1+D2 oil reserves and 45 million tons of D1+D2 gas reserves, as of 2002. The auctions for these blocks will start on 21 February 2012, with the deadline to submit applications and deposits on 8 February 2012. The application fee for each block is set at USD 5,481.
