The expected list of blocks on offer in 2011 throughout Russia

On 22 December 2010, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation published the blocks on offer in 2011. The list includes 203 blocks that officials are going to put up for auction. The majority of areas on offer lie within West Siberia.  

The blocks on offer in 2011 are listed below:

The greatest number of blocks, 20, are located in the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Areas, where the highest amount of oil reserves are expected. The proved C1 oil resources in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Areas are forecast at 6 million tonnes, whilst prospective D1 and D2 resources are forecast at 309 million tonnes. In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Area oil resources are forecast at 21.5 million tonnes for proved C1 reserves and 96 million tonnes for prospective D1 and D2 reserves.

A limitation linked to three of the 203 blocks on offer states that only Russian subsoil users can take part in the auctions for these blocks. The blocks are all located in the Nenets Autonomous Area and have only prospected D1 and D2 reserves.

As it is shown below, the expected list of blocks published in 2011 contains fewer areas than the last year’s list. The number of blocks by regions is quite similar but in 2011 the government aims to increase activity in the South.
