The list of blocks offered for geological study at the expense of licensees
On 22 April 2009 the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation (www.mnr.gov.ru) published the list of blocks offered for geological study at the expense of licensees. The list contains 66 insufficiently explored and unexplored blocks.
Half of the offered areas are located in West Siberia. 21 blocks are located in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area, with oil resources forecast at 246.1 million tons and gas resources forecast at 367.5 billion cubic metres for prospective D1 and D2 resources. Also the list contains six blocks offered in the Far East, one of the most promising hydrocarbon bearing regions in Russia.

Auctions to be held in the Tomsk Region
The Subsoil Management Agency of the Tomsk Region (nedra.tomsk.gov.ru) announced an auction to be held on 19 June 2009. Under this auction, 13 hydrocarbon blocks (Aysazskiy, Basmassovskiy, Kengskiy-1, Kengskiy-3, Ledovyy, Narymskiy, Nizhnepaninskiy (Paninskiy Lower), Togurskiy, Ust-Bakcharskiy-2, Ust-Tymskiy-1, Ust-Tymskiy-2, Kargasokskiy-1 and Kargasokskiy-2) are offered for 25 years of exploration and production. The deadline to submit applications and deposits is 28 May 2009.

Auctions cancelled in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Area
The Subsoil Management Agency of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Area announced that auctions for Vostochno-Varyngskiy, Vostochno-Gribnoy, Sabunskiy 40, Severo-Tyumenskiy 1, Sote-Yuganskiy and Shukhtungortskiy were cancelled. Applicants for Vostochno-Gribnoy and Shukhtungortskiy blocks have not been permitted to take part in the auction process. No applications were submitted for Vostochno-Varyngskiy, Sabunskiy 40, Severo-Tyumenskiy 1 and Sote-Yuganskiy blocks.
