Alaska Beaufort Sea, North Slope and North Slope Foothills Areawide Lease Sale 2011 results

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (ADNR), Division of Oil and Gas (DO&G), has announced the preliminary results for the oil and gas lease sales including the North Slope Areawide (NS 2011W), North Slope Foothills Areawide (FH 2011) and Beaufort Sea Areawide (BS 2011W) that concluded on 7 December 2011

The North Slope Areawide Sale covers approximately 5.1 million acres that are divided into 1,225 tracts. The tracts offered are located entirely within the North Slope Borough between the Canning River and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Of the tracts offered, a total of 178 tracts were sold covering an area of nearly 335,000 areas. The total sum of all high bids equalled USD 14,110,290.

The Beaufort Sea Areawide Lease Sale encompasses approximately two million acres that are divided into 573 tracts ranging in size from 640 to 5,760 acres. These tracts are located within the North Slope Borough and consist of state-owned tide and submerged lands in the Beaufort Sea between the Canadian Border and Point Barrow. Of the tracts offered, 78 tracts were sold covering an area of 281,095 acres. The total sum of all high bids equalled USD6,874,656.80.

The North Slope Foothills Areawide sale area is approximately 7.6 million acres that are divided into 1,346 tracts ranging in size from 1,280 to 5,760 acres. For the second year running the North Slope Foothills Areawide Lease Sale received no bids on these tracts.
