In an article written for Scandinavian Oil & Gas
magazine, Yuri Birchenko (Senior Consultant from our Russian
office) reviews the potential of Russian offshore deposits.
Despite a variety of different views on Russian offshore
oil and gas reserves, and prospects for its development, there
is no doubt that the country is very well positioned in a global
context, with the world’s highest total volumes of hydrocarbon
reserves, measured in barrels of oil equivalent (boe).

Brazil's
Agência Nacional do Petróleo (ANP) recently
announced its ninth licensing round on July 23rd, 2007.
A total of 313 blocks, covering
97,993.22 sq km, are available in areas classified as
either high potential, new frontiers or mature basins
sectors. The offered areas are contained in nine
sedimentary basins as follows: Campos, Espírito Santo,
Pará-Maranhão, Parnaíba, Pernambuco-Paraíba, Potiguar,
Recôncavo, Rio do Peixe and Santos Basin.
Final Tender Protocol containing the
official information for the round, as well as the
sample of the Concession Agreement, will be available on
September 18th, 2007. The awards are expected to be made
on November 27th-28th, 2007.
