Libya's National Oil Corporation has launched its
fourth licensing round. Companies are invited to bid for
exploration and production sharing agreements covering
12 prospective gas areas across Libya's main basins.
These areas cover 41 blocks, 22 of which are offshore.
Libya has had three previous licensing rounds but this
is the first to focus on gas. Bid opening and
announcement is expected on December 9th, 2007.
The areas on offer will be included in
the July update of PetroView
North Africa.

Yemen has recently announced its plans to host its
fourth international bid round. Concentrating on the
offshore region, the Petroleum Exploration and
Production Authority has drawn up a new offshore
concession map with 26 new concessions covering 22,610
sq km. All areas are previously unexplored, with little
seismic data.
Mr Khalid Bahah, the Minister for Oil and Minerals,
recently confirmed that Indian firms are very interested
in Yemeni Oil, with five considering participation in
this bid round. This follows the third bid round where
five out of eight blocks went to firms from the
sub-continent.
The updated offshore area for Yemen is available in
the July
PetroView Arabian Peninsula update.

Petroleum Exploration and Production Authority of Yemen

Launch of prospects and play module
We are pleased to announce the launch of our prospects
and play module for ArcGIS 9.2 and MapInfo 8.5. The
module is available for all PetroView datasets and
incorporates a customisable database schema enabling
companies to easily load, edit, view and query
information about their prospects and business
development opportunities.
One of the benefits of this module is that it enables
companies to combine and load information from disparate
files and varying file formats (e.g. PPT, XLS, DOC and
CAD) into a single spatially-enabled database. GIS users
across these organisations can then visualise and query
corporate prospect outlines and business development
opportunities alongside PetroView data and other GIS
layers.

website.

PetroView South Asia: Afghanistan added
We are pleased to announce that Afghanistan has been
added to our South Asia dataset. Afghanistan is
surrounded by several oil and gas producing countries
such as Iran, Turkmenistan and Pakistan. The majority of
known reserves have been found in northern Afghanistan
in the petroliferous Amu-Darya Basin and Afghan-Tajik
Basin.
The newly added country contains standard cultural data
layers (cities, roads, provinces and rivers) in addition
to the PetroView attribute tables: Wells, Blocks, Fields
and Pipelines. South Asia is available for the MapInfo
and ArcView (ESRI) GIS platforms and is updated on a
monthly basis.

PetroView South Asia, please visit our website.
