Peru added to PetroView South America
We are delighted to announce that Peru has now been
added to our PetroView South America dataset. Peru is an
integral part of the South America dataset and will be
updated on a quarterly basis.
Peru includes the standard cultural data layers
(bathymetry, coastline, cities, roads, provinces and
rivers) in addition to the standard PetroView attribute
tables: Wells, Blocks, Fields and Pipelines. The dataset
is available for the MapInfo and ArcView (ESRI) GIS
platforms.

Sixth Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber oil and gas survey
The Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber Oil and Gas Survey
has been developed with Deloitte, with input from the
Well Services Contractors' Association, Offshore
Contractors' Association and United Kingdom Offshore Oil
Association.
Drawing on responses from oil and gas operators and
contractors, who employ over 290,000 staff in the UK and
international oil sector, this survey reports on
business confidence, industry developments, activity
levels and employment trends.
In this survey we have returned again to the
employment challenges facing the sector - recruitment,
retention and skills requirements - recurring and
increasingly important themes in the industry in recent
years. The results of this survey again show the extent
of skills shortages and recruitment difficulties and how
these are impacting upon activity levels and the ability
of the contractors to meet the demands of the operators.

North Sea taxation
The Chancellor has announced that
there will be no charge to Petroleum Revenue Tax (PRT)
on North Sea oil or gas fields where decommissioning has
taken place and the field has subsequently been
recommissioned. This change will come into effect from 1
July 2007. Fields which meet the criteria which have
already been recommissioned will cease to be chargeable
to PRT from this date, and fields which are
recommissioned after this date will not be chargeable.
