This edition includes:

New PetroView dataset – Russia

We are delighted to announce the launch of PetroView Russia. The dataset contains standard cultural data layers (bathymetry, coastline, cities, roads, provinces and rivers) in addition to the standard PetroView attribute tables: Wells, Blocks, Fields and Pipelines. This dataset is available for the MapInfo and ArcView (ESRI) GIS platforms and will be updated on a quarterly basis.

Licensing round Papua New Guinea 2006

Papua New Guinea opened the bidding of its 2006 licensing round in Singapore on 13 September 2006. Exploration rights to 15 blocks with a combined area of 107,000 sq. kms are available. The released areas include both shallow and deep water blocks with some adjoining onshore blocks in the Gulf of Papua.

Aside from Singapore, road shows will be held in Calgary, Houston, London and Perth. The round closes on 13 April 2007 and awards are expected approximately eight weeks after closing.

The Papua New Guniea open blocks will be incorporated into the October update of the PetroView Asia Pacific dataset.

India’s new exploration licensing policy (NELP-VI) round

Bids for India’s 6th licensing round closed on 15 September 2006. This round saw 165 bids being placed for 52 blocks. Out of the 55 blocks offered, it is understood that 39 blocks received multiple bids, 13 blocks received single bids and three blocks failed to attract interest. Results are expected in November 2006 with the signing of contracts taking place in January 2007.

The PetroView South Asia Field and Licence Notes module contains a substantial amount of textual information on the NELP VI blocks.

SEG international exhibition 2006: Africa on the horizon

PetroView user group meetings - follow up

We hosted three user group meetings in London, Aberdeen and Stavanger during September. Attended by 31 companies and over 50 clients, these meetings proved to be very informative, both for our clients and us.

The new version of PetroView 8.5 and the recent technical developments on the ArcGIS and MapInfo platforms were demonstrated. During the events, we also announced recent data expansion and the release schedule for MapInfo and PetroView 8.5 and the web services that are currently being implemented.
