Bright spots
January 2006Happy New Year and welcome to our January edition of Bright spots.
This edition includes:
Latest upstream wall maps
We are pleased to present our latest Brazil, Gulf of Mexico and Sub-Saharan African wall maps, which were released in December 2005. These maps form part of our popular series of free A1 wall maps, which are available for you to download and print from our website.
Alternatively, to request an A1 printed copy please fill in our contact us form stating clearly which maps you require.
The maps illustrate the extent of PetroView's coverage in specific regions and the depth of information available within each.
The screenshot below is an example of our Gulf of Mexico map.

New PetroView ArcGIS functionality
This tool allows graphics in the map to be easily converted to layers within the current table of contents without the need to invoke an edit session.
Users can create an empty ESRI shape file from within the ArcMap session, removing the need to switch to ArcCatalog to perform the same task. In addition, the shape file created in ArcMap can then be used to store spatial and attribute data, again without the need to invoke an edit session.
New PetroView data
The PetroView Sub-Saharan Africa dataset has been extensively updated with new infrastructure, development wells and field outlines.
The data represents CABCOG’s (Chevron's subsidiary in Angola) and partners’ recent investments in new developments including Sanha Condensate, Benguela, Belize and Mafumeira projects, which total over one billion US dollars.
Four new tables depicting the seventh release of fallow blocks and discoveries, announced by the UK Government on January 6th, have been included in this month’s release of the PetroView NWE and UK update. The tables show the blocks, discoveries and their status in the fallow process.
In December 2005, 45 Norwegian production licences were awarded to 26 companies under the Awards in Predefined Areas 2005 (APA2005). This licence data has been added to the standard PetroView tables and is also available in this month’s update.
