Welcome to our December edition of Bright spots. May we take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
This edition includes:
On-call Cartography

Through On-call, we are now providing a new cartographic service that enables clients to request customised maps tailored to meet their specific information needs.

PetroScope additions
In his Pre-Budget Report on December 5, 2005, the Chancellor Gordon Brown announced changes to the taxes levied on UK North Sea Oil and Gas Production. These changes will take effect from January 1, 2006.
The PetroScope UKCS model has been revised to reflect these changes, which are highlighted below:
- Increased Rate of SCT
- Deferral of First Year Allowances
- Ring Fence Expenditure Supplement
For more information regarding PetroScope, please visit our website.
We have created a new module for viewing project output data in the net interest view. The module, which is available for the UKCS model, enables users to view projects in a particular percentage.
- Five new tables have been added to PetroView North Africa:
- Algeria 6th round 2005: The Algerian 6th round involves 10 blocks.
- Egypt 2004 bid round 1: 15 blocks were placed on offer for the 1st bid round in 2004.
- Egypt 2005 bid: 13 blocks were put on offer in 2005.
- Ganope bid round 1 2005: The Ganope 2005 blocks were placed for bidding in the Southern Region of Egypt.
Well deviation lines: This table records the bottom hole locations and an assumed path from the top hole location. All data within the table is publicly available.
